I’m really sick and tired of the misrepresentation of Roe v Wade in the US. The US is different because it has a written Constitution that defines its citizens’ rights. The Supreme Court exists to make sure no laws contravene these rights. The Roe v Wade ruling said that the written rights included “aborting a baby as a contraception” and was almost immediately amended to add “up to and including birth”. Even Ruth Bader Ginsberg said this was invalid, but it stuck… no-one expected it to remain, but it did. All the SCOTUS did was correct the original error: that the Constitution does not include the right to abort a baby up to birth based on the whim of the mother. It did NOT say abortion is wrong, as this is not its job. Doing so is the job of the House… and only the House. If it believes that this type of abortion, up to 9 months for no other reason than choice (as mother’s health, etc was already law), should be legal then it should rule so… it has nothing to do with SCOTUS who only says if something is in the Constitution or not. All that the Court said was that it wasn’t in the Constitution and thus needs the government to make, or not, it into a law. No clock has been turned back, and no other country is affected as other countries already work like this: that each country’s government makes its own laws
